Kingston Upon Thames
This outer London borough is situated in the southwest corner of London on the River Thames. It was the first crossing point upstream after London Bridge when the Romans occupied the area. The name Kingston is thought to mean “farmstead of the kings”. It is the historical place where seven Anglo-Saxon monarchs were crowned. The Coronation Stone can be seen outside the local council offices. Queen Elizabeth II extended another Royal Charter to the borough in 1965 when it expanded due to the merger of surrounding areas. Kingston was a military aircraft manufacturing area, housing companies such as Sopwith, Hawker Aviation and British Aerospace. It is also a major bus centre bringing people into this university town and the shopping areas. It has no underground station. The largest number of South Koreans outside of Korea have made their home in New Malden located in the borough. Chessington World of Adventures is located in the borough and has provided entertainment since 1931. Kingston is featured in different types of literature such as Jerome Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat, H.G. Well’s The War of the Worlds, Jane Austen’s Emma, and episodes of Monty Python.

Psalm 74:12
New Living Translation (NLT)
12 You, O God, are my king from ages past,
bringing salvation to the earth.
Please pray for the peoples of Kingston upon Thames to coronate God in their hearts as their King. May this area, considered “Royal” for many generations, be a place where salvation is planted, nurtured and harvested and is known spiritually as the King’s Town.
