Borough of Sutton
This outer London borough situated on the southwest edge of the greater London area was historically a staging post on the London to Brighton route. Henry VIII and Edward VI held land in the area. Carew Manor is situated in Beddington Park and is now used as a school. The manor was once the countryseat of the Carews, one of Britain’s most prominent families in Tudor times and connected to the inner circle of Henry VIII’s court.
In addition to its green open spaces and rural feel, Sutton is known for extremely high standards in education regularly placing in the top 5 in the country in education statistics.
Prayer Requests for this Borough
Sutton
Psalm 78:1-4
New Living Translation (NLT)
1 O my people, listen to my instructions.
Open your ears to what I am saying,
2 for I will speak to you in a parable.
I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—
3 stories we have heard and known,
stories our ancestors handed down to us.
4 We will not hide these truths from our children;
we will tell the next generation
about the glorious deeds of the Lord,
about his power and his mighty wonders.
Please pray for the peoples of Sutton to value the teaching of God. As they value education, pray for those in schools who teach Religious Education to the next generation to ignite the hunger and thirst for righteousness in their students. Please pray that they will teach the knowledge of the wonders of God.
