Borough of Havering
This outer London borough on the northeast edge of London is situated on the north bank of the River Thames. It contains a main road following an ancient Roman Road that led from London to East Anglia. There is evidence of a Roman trading post being set up in the town of present day Romford. The Saxon royals kept a manor house in the area for hunting up through the time of Charles II. The area of Hornchurch which contained the royal administrative centre was also known for its leather trade. Even though there is no longer a royal estate in the area, it still maintains a royal presence. Modern growth to the area came with the railways in the 1838. It was the site of a major reform to London’s housing crisis following World War II when the largest council estate in Europe at the time was created there. Much of the land is still safeguarded by London’s Green Belt scheme.
Prayer Requests for this Borough
Havering
Psalm 84:1-2
New Living Translation (NLT)
Psalm 84
For the choir director: A psalm of the descendants of Korah, to be accompanied by a stringed instrument.[a]
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2 I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
Please pray for the peoples of Havering to experience the song that God sings over them and express His joy to the neighbours and nations at their doorstep. May the fear of change gently be weeded out by the Gardener’skilled hands.
