Borough of Croyden
This outer London borough is situated in the south and follows the ancient route of a Roman Road from London to the South Coast. The area carried on being the main line of communication and transport between London and the South Coast. Fire plays another part in Croydon’s history. Early on it was known for supplying coal to London and then later, in the late 1800’s, it supplied fireworks to the Crystal Palace for firework displays. Croydon was also known for being a centre of ecclesiastical power, housing the Archbishop of Canterbury’s palace as a summer getaway. In 1780, the house was deemed unfit and sold. In 1915 an air field was set up to provide air defence during World War I. After the war, it became the principal airport in London. However, it declined and eventually was closed when Heathrow Airport was opened in west London. The Home Office is located here in a building called Lunar House. Mega Companies, Nestle and American International Group (AIG) have their UK headquarters in Croydon. Croydon is also known for having a high rate of juvenile delinquency.
Prayer Requests for this Borough
Croyden Prayer Requests
PS 71:17-18
O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come.
Pray for Croyden that it would come to peace in Jesus christ.
